An excellent week for Subalpine Warblers with I think record numbers this year.
27th Little Crake and Squacco Heron seen by Nikos On the 26th thunderstorms came in the afternoon from the south bringing lots of sand from Africa with it visibility was very poor , this carried on to the 27th
On the 27th our first spring sightings of Willow Warbler, Redstart, Wryneck, Curlew Sandpiper, Whinchat and Woodchat Shrike, a single White Stork was seen also and again on the 29th
Finishing off our trip this week at Giorgopouli on 23rd

Common Buzzard again the most prolific migrant at the moment , 460+ seen passing through the week and that's only what we counted in the few hours spent watching. One Steppe Buzzard amongst them .
We spotted Egyptian Vulture again, a single bird on the 11th and 14th, we think it was the one seen in February the same 4CY . The bird on 14th possibly the same but high and distant and heading off north from the island, plumage not seen properly to say though. Nice all the same as these are rarely seen in spring. Kaliviani
The Subalpine Warbler makes its return with individuals seen at various locations, here at Kaliviani on the 15th we spotted many, unusually flighty and secretive.
Booted Eagle, a pale morph at Agyia 10th an a dark morph at Kaliviani 15th
Redshank numbers around the same at souda and Wood sandpiper starting to show up.
The 12th was the best day of the week with 36 species seen at Kaliviani
Red-rumped Swallow, Barn Swallow, Crag Martin, House Martin, Alpine Swift and Swift all showed up during the week. 12th Kaliviani
Lesser Kestrel was a nice find with four birds seen in Kaliviani area between 12th/15th

A Scarce Swallowtail butterfly on 15th was the first seen for sometime.

Hoopoes appeared on the 7th we had our first at Falasarna on the 8th others also reported singles at various locations on the 8th
